About Us
We’re the Wilsons.
Wil-Mart is our family store, but it’s also a family project.
We started Wil-Mart because we love to make things, learn new skills, and follow our curiosity. Our interests are all over the place, and we like it that way. On any given day, someone might be painting, working at a jeweler’s bench, designing a patch, digging through antiques, learning how to make candles, or taking apart a perfectly functional object just to see how it works.
Wil-Mart gives all of that curiosity a home.
Our goal is simple: to create and learn together as a family. We want to get better at our crafts, try things we’ve never done before, make things we’re proud of, and give our kids the experience of taking an idea all the way from “what if?” to something real that another person can hold in their hands.
Grace
Grace is a teacher and folk artist whose work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout Utah and beyond. She brings a love of traditional craft, storytelling, color, and the wonderfully imperfect qualities of handmade things to Wil-Mart.
Joe
Joe is a designer by trade, collector by obsession, and amateur silversmith by trial and error. He has a particular love for antique jewelry and has spent years studying Georgian and Victorian mourning jewelry and the strange, beautiful stories these pieces carry with them. When he isn’t designing something on a computer, he likes experimenting at the jeweler’s bench with silver, stones, hammers, files, and fire.
Lou
Lou is our resident pop culture aficionado. He loves the movies, games, characters, and worlds that inspire many of our ideas. He’s also learning about design and what it actually takes to turn an idea into a real product, from the first sketch to the finished thing. He can also build a mean Magic The Gathering deck.
Jack
Jack is the tinkerer. He’s happiest taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and putting them back together in ways they probably weren’t intended to go. He brings an inventor’s curiosity to the family and is always ready to experiment with a new tool, material, or idea. He makes messes in the best way.
Faye
Faye is Wil-Mart’s Chief Testing Officer, a responsibility she takes very seriously. New artwork needs her approval. New ideas require her input. And if there happens to be a fresh batch of cookies involved, she is always willing to conduct extensive quality assurance. Mostly, she just loves being part of whatever the family is making.
Why a family store?
Because we think making things together matters.
Wil-Mart isn’t about building a perfectly coordinated collection or chasing whatever happens to be popular. It’s about giving ourselves a reason to keep creating, experimenting, and learning together.
We want our kids to see that you can have an idea and make it real. That it’s okay to try something you don’t know how to do. That making mistakes is part of getting good at something. And that creativity doesn’t have to stay a hobby tucked away in a sketchbook or garage.
So the things you find here will probably change over time. There will be art, handmade jewelry, patches, home goods, antiques, experiments, small runs, one-of-a-kind pieces, and things we haven’t thought of yet.
If you buy something from Wil-Mart, you’re doing more than supporting a small family business. You’re giving us another excuse to spend time with one another, learn something new, and make something together.
We’re very grateful for that.
Thanks for visiting our family store.
